Highland Fraser Limited was founded in April 1998 by Mark Fraser, a highly qualified joiner and furniture maker who has worked on various prestigious contracts world-wide.
His experience started in the north of Scotland (hence the "Highland" part of the name), where he served his apprenticeship under the tuition of Gordon Gray working on wide-ranging projects including the construction of kit houses, specially architecturally designed one-offs and general maintenance to local farm buildings.
He was selected to work for the British Antarctic Survey and travelled to the Antarctic with their team. On returning, he received a call to go to Jersey, as they needed a finishing joiner for a large manor house refurbishment.
His first project in London gave him the opportunity to start up his own company. During a period of seven months working on a Crown Estate property in Kensington Palace Gardens he became one of the top finishing joiners on the site; the owner retained him for his own Mayfair properties and Highland Fraser Limited was born.
